Η πρώτη διακρατική συνάντηση του προγράμματος EDUDATA στη Λευκωσία

CARDET hosted the first Transnational Project Meeting of EDUDATA held on the 13th and 14th of May 2026 in Nicosia. The meeting marked an important milestone for the project, as consortium partners gathered in person for the very first time to strengthen collaboration and align on the project’s shared vision and objectives.

Over the course of the two-day meeting, partners engaged in productive discussions around the research and mapping activities currently in progress across the partnership. The sessions provided an opportunity to exchange ideas, share expertise, and identify common priorities that will guide the next phases of the project.

A key focus of the meeting was the collaborative brainstorming and conceptualisation of the EDUDATA model, the project’s main output. Through interactive workshops and strategic discussions, partners explored innovative approaches and outlined the foundations of a model that aims to support data-informed educational practices and decision-making.

Beyond the working sessions, the TPM also helped strengthen cooperation among partners, fostering a shared understanding of the project goals and laying the groundwork for effective collaboration throughout the project’s duration.

EDUDATA: Data at the heart of education decisions

The new EU-funded project that aims to strengthen evidence-based decision-making in digital education.

At a time when the digital transition is constantly transforming education systems, the need for reliable data is becoming increasingly important. Although schools, educational organizations, and public agencies collect large volumes of information every day, its use often remains limited and lacks common management standards.

Why EDUDATA was created

The EDUDATA project aims to fill this gap by developing a modern framework for educational data governance that will support more effective and equitable decision-making in education. Through collaboration among research organizations, educational authorities, and policymakers from various European countries, the project aims to transform data into a powerful tool for improving educational policy and practice.

The project’s main objective is to strengthen the capacity of European education systems to utilize data consistently, securely, and with a clear link to policymaking. Reliable data can help identify educational inequalities, better understand students’ needs, and ensure the targeted allocation of resources and support.

A common European framework for education

EDUDATA is expected to develop a common European framework that will enable the linking and utilization of data from the school level up to the national and European levels. During the first official meeting in Nicosia in May 2026, the partners mapped out the project’s initial research activities, prioritizing the identification of digital education data sources in the consortium countries.

Particular emphasis was also placed on brainstorming for the EDUDATA Model, the project’s key deliverable, which will include processes and mechanisms for the governance of educational data, with a focus on the roles of the stakeholders involved, ethical safeguards, compliance with the GDPR, and interoperability between systems.

The project also includes consultations with educational authorities and policymakers, a pilot implementation of the model in various school settings, as well as the development of an interactive and multilingual online version of the EDUDATA model, with the aim of its widespread use at the European level.
